About

A co-educational ICSE day school in Ballygunge, teaching Classes VI to XII since 1987.

Our school

Tagore Vidya Bhavan opened in Ballygunge in 1987 with three sections and one belief: that a school should teach students to think, not only to remember. Today we are a co-educational ICSE day school of about 1,100 students from Class VI to Class XII, affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

Vision

To send out young people who read widely, argue with evidence, and hold themselves to a standard they set for their own reasons.

Mission

  • A broad ICSE and ISC course taught by subject specialists in small sections.
  • Writing, discussion, and project work built into every subject.
  • Sport, music, and the arts given real hours in the week, for every student.
  • A secular campus that admits students without regard to religion, caste, or gender, and an honest, regular conversation with parents.
PC
From the Chairperson
We built Tagore Vidya Bhavan as a school where a question is welcome and a wrong answer is a place to start, not a verdict. Nearly four decades on, that is still the measure we hold ourselves to.
